Deborah Falzon
Deborah Falzon is a flamenco dance artist and community practitioner with a diverse dance foundation in ballet, contemporary, escuela bolera, hip hop and lyrical. Previously based in Seville, she has trained with world-renowned Flamenco dancers Juana Amaya, Nazaret Reyes, Carmen Ledesma, Asunción Pérez, and Francis Nuñez, amongst others. Deborah has created various traditional and contemporary flamenco pieces through collaborations with interdisciplinary artists in Malta and Spain; including the organisation of the first two Flamenco Malta Tours bringing together Maltese and Spanish artists within 26 shows staged across venues and festivals. With a background in transcultural counselling, she has led dance and rhythm workshops within various vocational, educational and community settings. Currently, she is reading a Masters in Flamencology with Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya under the Malta Arts Scholarship and forms part of Dance Beyond Borders; a duo dance collective creating opportunities for people to interact, connect and unite through the arts, presently producing the first ever Refugee Week Malta festival. Driven by social justice values and displaying zeal in each part of her dance journey, Deborah lives by her purpose to share flamenco in the hopes of people empowering themselves to transform their lives through dance.
