Francesca Aquilina Biography
Francesca Aquilina completed the MA Opera course at the RWCMD where she studied with Suzanne Murphy and was coached by Sharon Richards and Angela Livingstone. In Malta she trains with soprano, Gillian Zammit who has been her mentor and tutor for nearly 20 years. She received a Bachelor of Music (Honours) first class degree from Edinburgh Napier University. Her roles have included ‘Gretel’ in Humperdink’s Hansel and Gretel, ‘Bastienna’ in Mozart’s Bastien and Bastienna and ‘Inez’ in Verdi’s Il Trovatore. In the UK, she sang the role of ‘Eurydice’ in Opera’r Ddraig’s production of Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld as well as ‘Despina’ with the same company for their production of Cosi fan Tutte at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. At the RWCMD, Francesca played the role of ‘Tina’ in Jonathan Dove’s Flight and 'Papagena' in their production of The Magic Flute as well as reprising the role of 'Despina' in their production of Cosi Fan Tutte. Francesca sang 'Adina' in Winterbourne Opera's production of The Elixir Of Love and sang the role of 'Jenny' in Welsh National Opera's touring production of My Perfect World. In the UK she has sung with Clonter Opera as well as singing with VIBE in London as part of the CHOGM Malta celebrations. In Malta she sang 'Gianetta' in the Teatru Manoel production of L'Elisir d'Amore and sang the Pergolesi Stabat Mater with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. Roles also include that of 'Amour' in Teatru Manoel's production of Orfee et Euridice and 'Barbarina' in Marriage of Figaro. She has performed in concerts all around the UK as well as in Italy, France and Germany and has premiered the works of several prominent Maltese composers. In the Netherlands she played the role of the 'High Priestess' in Opera Spanga's production of Aida as part of the V18 programme. She has been part of the Monteverdi Project in Malta which has led her to sing in many prominent early music concerts and festivals.
Angelo Muscat Biography
Tenor Angelo Muscat started singing at an early age with the Chorus Urbanus, under the direction of Dr. John Galea.
He later proceeded with his opera and classical studies with Juliette Bisazza Zanni and subsequently furthered his studies with Dr. Andriana Yordanova.
He has participated in numerous masterclasses with Soprano Miriam Gauci, Soprano Eteri Lamoris, Prof. Carlos Conde Conzales, amd many more. Muscat achived a scolarship “Artivisti” in 2018 to further his professional opera studies.
He participated in various concerts locally as well as internationally as in the UK, Italy and Austria aswell he was accompanied by the Malta Philarmonic Orchestra, Eurode Jungedorchester Herzegonrath and St. Paul Metropolitan Orchestra.
In October 2019, Angelo played the role of Parpignol in the opera Boheme by Puccini.
Angelo has been supported by the Arts Council Malta and AAgenzij Zghazagh.
