CLASS DESCRIPTION: 


It is a physical session that involves strong, complex and technical sequences in and out of the ground and focuses on performance skills and endurance. There is room for improvisation for your own development. The intensive consists of a contemporary dance class, learning repertoire and a creative session.

 

These physically challenging sessions incorporate complex and technically demanding vocabulary to further develop participants' performance skills, endurance and creative language. We play with the art of intention and authenticity of movement and examine how emotions change the material or can be used as impulses.

 

This session is for participants who are discovering their personal movement styles and their own development in order to improve in auditions and creative processes, as well as for aspiring choreographers who want to try out their creative methods, and teachers who Need inspiration for developing movement material. In these sessions, participants explore many possibilities for creating dances for others / their own solos / for groups and partner work.


Alleyne Dance (UK)

Alleyne Dance (AD) is a UK based company with an international reach, founded in 2014 by award winning dancers and twin sisters Kristina and Sadé Alleyne. The choreographic aesthetic reflects the sisters diverse background in athleticism and dance training. Within their abstract contemporary construct, Alleyne Dance blend West African, Caribbean, Hip Hop, Kathak and Circus Skills, delivered as fast paced and dynamic movement. They infuse lyrical and fluid motion, layered with rhythm and textures in physically powerful, yet graceful performances.  Alleyne Dance strives for high quality and excellence as the Company delivers its three main objectives: performance, participation and development. In 2023, Alleyne Dance were winners of Black Female Icons of Lewisham with Brockley Max and The Mayor of London, and the Company also received the award for Best Independent Company at the National Dance Awards.

The Company has five main works currently being presented: Stage productions A Night’s Game and The Other Side of Me, award-winning film (Re)United and outdoor production BONDED. A new stage production, Far From Home, premiered in Autumn 2022 and is touring throughout 2023. Recently, Alleyne Dance have worked on high profile commissions for renowned Martha Graham Company (USA), Phoenix Dance Theatre (UK), and the Mayor of London’s London Borough of Culture 2022 in Lewisham.
