Flamenco Workshop by Maria del Suarez La Chachi (Spain)
DFM Workshops 27 July
CLASS DESCRIPTION:
We will work rhythmically: clapping and beats for tangos. Simple choreographic games will be explored where we will reflect on technical practice of arms, feet and body percussion. We will end with a mini choreography group. Comfortable clothing and flamenco accessories if wishes (shawl, fan, skirt, flowers) are required.
Maria del Suarez La Chachi
Actress and dancer, she graduated in both disciplines in Málaga, her hometown. After specialising in flamenco with La Lupi, training in physical theatre, new dramaturgy and contemporary dance, she discovers her true passion: the union of all above. With her first solo work, “La gramática de los mamíferos” she began to establish herself as an Andalusian avant-garde creator. La Chachi has earned her own place in this recent trend of breaking down and reassessing flamenco, following the path of other outsiders like El Niño de Elche, Israel Galván and Rocío Molina.
