Kor Malta
KorMalta – Malta National Choir performs a cappella and symphonic repertoire. KorMalta’s first concert Motets and Madrigals: From Sacred to Profane in December 2018, was an all a cappella programme with compositions spanning from de Victoria, Byrd and Bruckner to Monteverdi and Mendelssohn. The choir continued to build a notable repertoire of performances including its collaboration with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra for the production of Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor; KorMalta joined the MPO for the performance of Beauty and the Beast. KorMalta also collaborated with the MPO for a Holy Week concert and with Michael Laus for Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace. The 2019-2020 season opened with a collaboration with ViBE and the Valletta Cultural Agency for Biber’s Requiem in November. This concert was repeated as part of the 2020 Valletta Baroque Festival, to great acclaim. In November 2019, KorMalta was invited to Vienna for the inauguration of a Maltese Crib, and to sing during High Mass. In March 2020, KorMalta had its operatic debut with Otello, a Teatru Manoel production. KorMalta also provides its choristers with professional training. In preparation for its launch concert and for Biber’s Requiem, choristers underwent training with tenor Nicholas Mulroy.
