Festivals Malta is proud to be one of the signatories for the National Charter for the Status of the Artist together with Arts Council Malta and the Public Cultural Organisations.
The launch of the National Charter is one of the priorities highlighted in the Council’s Strategy 2025 and is inspired by the UNESCO 1980 Recommendations concerning the Status of the Artist and its further developments and supports and advocates for working conditions in which artists and cultural and creative practitioners can create and flourish in pursuing their ideas and aspirations.
Following an extensive public consultation process, the Charter serves as a dynamic framework of reference for any legislation, policy, or initiative that affects artists and the cultural and creative sectors. It ensures that all actions align with the overarching, long-term vision of enhancing the status of artists in Malta.
