CHIAROSCURO: conversations between darkness and light
As part of this year’s edition of The Three Palaces Festival, the festival will be curating an exhibition of paintings, etchings, and drawings linked to its theme for 2025 – Conversations – at The Grandmaster’s Palace in Valletta.
We are therefore inviting artists to submit a work as part of a collective exhibition. Chosen works will be exhibited alongside the works of established artists, from October 29 to November 9, 2025.
This is an opportunity for younger artists, students, as well as self-taught artists, from (or residing in) Malta, to be part of a larger and prestigious exhibition in this most exceptional space. We are asking for the work to be a painting, etching, or drawing, inspired by the concept of chiaroscuro and the contrast and dialogue between darkness and light.
All media accepted: oils, watercolour, acrylic, graphite, pencil, charcoal etc., and it can be either on wood or canvas, or any preferred material, so long as it can be hung on boards. The art displayed may also be put on sale, should the artist wish this. There will be a private view and reception on the opening night.
We are asking for submissions of a high-resolution photograph of the work to be sent digitally to both leo.chircop@festivals.mt & leanne.a.abela-grech@festivals.mt not later than October 9, 2025, together with a title, a short description of the work and the concept behind it, its size, and medium. It will not be possible to offer feedback, but all participating artists (whether their work is chosen for display or not) will be notified of the decision, and will be invited to the Private View on October 29.
