From the needles that are used to sew the costumes, to the jewels that are meticulously glued onto costumes one by one for dancers to delight audiences in the streets of Valletta and Floriana, Carnival costumes are an essential part of this tradition. We welcome you to Kuluri u Kostumi (Colours & Costumes), a Carnival exhibition that focuses on the artistry and complex work behind the hundreds of costumes worn by the participants in Valletta’s Carnival. The costumes you see here are the result of the efforts of many volunteers and artisans, whose work gives Carnival costumes their unique character.
