Projects defined by the Artistic Team, each with a specific area, theme, or format. These are designed to fit within the artistic vision and spatial layout of Notte Bianca, with artists invited to contribute works that respond directly to these curated concepts.


 


Performance Slot A: Triton Fountain – Cross-Disciplinary Opening Act


We are inviting proposals for a 15-minute cross-disciplinary performance around the Triton Fountain to open Notte Bianca 2026. The performance should combine dance with live musicians/performers (approximately 15 in total) to create a powerful and engaging spectacle that reflects the theme of Reflection.

Performance Slot B: The Ditch – DJ-Led Artistic Performance


We are inviting proposals for a DJ-led performance in the Valletta Ditch that merges the energy of a party with unexpected forms of live art. This is not a series of disconnected interventions, but a continuous, evolving experience where music and live performance unfold throughout the night.

Performance Slot C: Quddiem il-Parlament – Welcome to the City


We are inviting proposals for a site-specific performance in the area in front of Parliament that serves as a welcome to Notte Bianca 2026. The project should use the space and its surroundings to create an engaging first impression for audiences entering Valletta, setting the tone for the evening’s celebration.

Performance Slot D: Citywide Hourly Intervention – Valletta


We are inviting proposals for a Valletta-wide intervention that takes place every hour throughout the night. The intervention must be designed so that it is experienced simultaneously by everyone in the city, creating a shared, unifying moment that ties the festival together.

Performance Slot E: Castille Square – Music Performance


We are inviting proposals for a 60-minute music performance at Kastilja Square, specifically catered for bands. The setup will feature performers on separate elevated platforms placed around the venue, creating a distinctive visual identity and a unique spatial listening experience.

Performance Slot F: Pjazza Teatru Rjal – Worlds Collide


We are inviting proposals for live performances at Pjazza Teatru Rjal that bring together different artistic worlds, contrasting genres, disciplines, and creative energies in unexpected ways. The space will transform into a vibrant arena of experimentation, where artists explore what happens when opposites meet.

Performance Slot G: Teatru Manoel – Play Within a Play


We are inviting proposals for short performances of up to 20 minutes at Teatru Manoel. Artists are encouraged to make full use of the theatre’s spaces. Projects should explore the concept of a “play within a play”, where reality and performance overlap, and audiences become part of the illusion.

Performance Slot H: Upper Barrakka Gardens – Family & Children’s Interactive Performance


We are inviting proposals for a family-focused interactive performance at the Upper Barrakka Gardens. Overlooking the Grand Harbour, this landmark will host a project that combines art, history, play, and technology in a welcoming space designed for both children and adults.

For all applications, the Artistic Team and Festivals Malta reserve the right to add to, remove from, or modify projects as deemed appropriate. Changes to projects presented for application purposes may be made at the discretion of the Artistic Direction and Festivals Malta team. 


Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
