The services of one officer providing Communication Services are required, starting from 1st April 2026 with an average of 40 hours of service a week. The successful candidate shall enter a Contract for Service for a period of 12 (twelve) months.
The service shall be remunerated at €18 per hour excl. VAT, for a total contract value not exceeding Eur45,000 (excl. VAT) over the duration of the contract. Any other taxes or charges shall be borne by the successful candidate.
Festivals Malta
Festivals Malta is the national government body dedicated to the nurturing and growth of festivals and cultural events in Malta and Gozo.
The agency was launched in 2017 and entrusted with a varied portfolio of festivals to foster creativity, professionalism, participation and cultural education in the sector. It is responsible for an annual calendar of more than 160 separate activities across 11 engaging and accessible festivals and 5 national events that serve as a platform for local artists to showcase their talents and reflect the variety of cultural life on the Maltese archipelago, preserving local traditions, cultivating an environment of creativity and artistic expression and promoting public awareness of the arts. By acting as the focal point of collaboration and cross-promotion in the creative sector, Festivals Malta works to raise the profile of Maltese culture in the community and to promote Malta internationally as a festival destination.
Services Required
The provider selected shall provide Communication services as requested.
Main Tasks
i. Collaborate with management to develop and implement an effective communications strategy based on our target audience for the respective festivals/events.
ii. Write, edit, and distribute content, including publications, press releases, website content, annual reports, speeches, and other marketing material that communicates the organization's activities, products and/or services.
iii. Social media management: Plan, create, and schedule content for the social media pages of the assigned festivals/events.
iv. Respond to media inquiries, arrange interviews, and act as a spokesperson for the organization.
v. Establish and maintain effective relationships with journalists and maintain a media database.
vi. Seek opportunities to enhance the reputation of the brand, and coordinate publicity events as required.
vii. Maintain records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics.
viii. Proficiency in design and publishing software will be considered an asset.
ix. Manage conflict as it arises and escalate to management.
x. Able to work in a team, adapt rapidly and respond to change in a fast-changing environment.
xi. Work during weekends and public holidays, including evenings as per Agency’s exigencies.
xii. Keeping abreast with Public Service financial and procurement regulations and policies and carrying out procurement as per Government PPR.
xiii. Assisting with any other matters, as assigned by the Marketing Manager or the CEO.
xiv. Follow any other ad hoc assignments in relation to festivals and events as may be directed and agreed with CEO Festivals Malta.
Qualifications and Experience Required
Interested applicants are to have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, Communication, Marketing, Business Administration or related subject (MQF Level 6).
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a communications role.
- Professional discretion.
- Efficiency;
- Knowledge of the cultural sector in Malta.
- Excellent coordination skills.
- Ability to communicate in Maltese and English.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Well-developed time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficient computer skills (MS office and Outlook).
- Verbal and written articulacy.
