A Celebration of Movement and Creativity
Dance Festival Malta returns this week with an exciting programme that places dance at the heart of Malta’s cultural calendar. Organised by Festivals Malta and taking place across Valletta, Floriana and other locations from the 24th-27th July, the festival promises an unforgettable experience for dancers, choreographers, and audiences. The festival will also be hosting the first edition of ARTIVISM featuring Silent Voices, performed by Biloura Dance Collective for a pre-festival event on the 22nd July.
Dance Festival Malta, which is under the artistic direction of Francesca Tranter, continues its mission to connect local talent with international artists by presenting performances, workshops, and discussions that push the boundaries of dance in all its forms. The festival showcases diverse styles, from contemporary and classical to experimental and site-specific work, creating a unique space for dialogue between artists and communities.
This year’s programme features Andrea Costanzo Martini’s “What Happened in Torino”, Florencia Oz & Isidora O’Ryan with “Antípodas”, and Min Kim’s “Are You Guilty?” among other international and local artists.
During the festival, workshops and masterclasses will be offered to dancers, encouraging skill exchange and artistic growth. Some highlight workshops and masterclasses include workshops by Sarah Vella for youths between 9-15 years, Marc Brew with an inclusive workshop, as well as Catarina and Tiago’s workshop about partnering, among others.
The festival continues to serve as a meeting point for cultural dialogue, reflecting Malta’s unique position as a crossroads of the Mediterranean. Audiences can expect bold storytelling, innovative choreography, and a celebration of dance as a form of connection and expression.
Tickets and the full programme are available at www.dfm.mt. Dance lovers, artists, and curious newcomers are invited to join this celebration of movement and creativity.
Dance Festival Malta is produced by Festivals Malta with the support of the Ministry for Culture, Lands and Local Government, and is sponsored by Visit Malta, Kristal, Deloitte and APS Bank.
