Public Call for Mature Dancers

Dance Festival Malta is proud to continue championing the visibility and creative power of the mature body in performance. As we step into the next chapter of this evolving initiative for 2026, we invite you to join us in celebrating experience, resilience, and the stories written through a life in motion.
We invite individuals aged 40 and above to participate in DANCE ON: Echoes of a Life in Motion, a generational performance project led by established Maltese dance artist and choreographer Dorian Mallia. This initiative honours the artistic richness, diversity, and lived experience of mature dancers and will culminate in a live theatre performance at Dance Festival Malta 2026 at the Manoel theatre in Valletta, Malta.
About the Commitment
Participants will take part in a ten-day creative process, engaging in movement exploration, embodied storytelling, and collaborative creation. Together with Dorian, you will develop work that celebrates the expressive potential of the ageing body. The process will conclude with a public performance, giving voice to intergenerational artistry at the heart of the festival.

We encourage applications from anyone aged 40+ with an interest in dance, whether you are a seasoned mover or returning to a practice you once loved. This project embraces inclusivity, diversity, and the belief that dance belongs to everybody.
