Festivals Malta launches Rock'N Malta funds

Festivals Malta launched a call for applications for Rock'N Malta - a fund of €300,000 aimed at supporting the local rock scene.


Minister for the National Heritage, the Arts, and Local Government Owen Bonnici and Festivals Malta launched a call for applications under the Rock’N Malta Fund. This initiative offers funding and support to organizers, bands and artists who produce rock concerts, including sub-genres. Applications are open for events held in 2023, with a total of €300,000 in allocated funds.

“Rock’N Malta provides an opportunity for local talent in rock music to showcase their repertoire and is also an opportunity to bring foreign talent to perform in our country. We will also be working hand in hand with the private sector, promoters, local artists, and NGOs through this funding stream,” stated Minister Owen Bonnici.

Festivals Malta Chairman Aaron Zahra stated that, through Rock’N Malta, Festivals Malta will continue to invest in the varied genres of music we have locally. “Festivals Malta aims to give various opportunities to our artists. Festivals Malta organises various festivals of different musical genres, including in the Maltese language, jazz, classical, and more. With this fund, we are also focusing on rock music and all its sub-genres.”

Festivals Malta launched Rock’N Malta in 2017. “Through this initiative, which forms part of Festivals Malta’s extensive portfolio, the agency can support the local rock music scene. Over the years, Rock’N Malta has hosted artists such as Dream Theater, Dee Snider, Steve Hackett, Krokus, and more. It has also been supportive of various bands, artists, and other local festivals related to this genre of music,” stated Festivals Malta CEO Annabelle Stivala.

Festivals Malta nieda sejħa għall-applikazzjonijiet ta' Rock'N Malta - fond ta' €300,000 bil-għan li jingħata appoġġ lix-xena lokali tal-mużika rock.

Il-Ministru għall-Wirt Nazzjonali, L-Arti u l-Gvern Lokali Owen Bonnici flimkien ma’ Festivals Malta nieda sejħa għall-applikazzjonijiet tal-fond Rock’N Malta. Din l-inizjattiva toffri appoġġ permezz ta’ fondi lill-organizzaturi, bands u artisti li jipproduċu kunċerti tal-ġeneru rock, kif ukoll is-sottoġeneri tiegħu. L-applikazzjonijiet huma miftuħa għall-avvenimenti li ser isiru fl-2023. B’kollox qed jiġu allokati total ta’ €300,000 f’fondi.

“Din hija inizjattiva sabiħa sabiex nagħtu opportunità lit-talent lokali fil-kamp tar-rock jesebixxi l-ħiliet tiegħu u anke nattiraw talent barrani biex jagħti prestazzjonijiet f’pajjiżna. Fl-istess waqt se nkunu qed naħdmu id f’id mas-settur privat, promoters, artisti lokali u l-NGOs sabiex ikunu huma l-ixprun ta’ dawn il-kunċerti”, stqarr il-Ministru Owen Bonnici.

Min-naħa tiegħu, iċ-Chairman ta’ Festivals Malta Aaron Zahra sostna li permezz ta’ Rock’N Malta, Festivals Malta ser tkompli tinvesti fil-ġeneri tal-mużika varjati li għandna f’pajjiżna. “L-għan ta’ Festivals Malta huwa li jagħti diversi opportunitajiet lill-artisti tagħna. Bħalma Festivals Malta jorganizza diversi festivals ta’ forom differenti ta’ arti u ta’ kull ġeneru mużikali, inkluż mużika bil-Malti, jazz, klassika, u aktar, b’dan il-fond qegħdin niffukaw ukoll fuq il-mużika rock u s-sottoġeneri kollha tagħha.”

Rock’N Malta ġie mwaqqaf minn Festivals Malta fl-2017. “Permezz ta’ din l-inizjattiva, li tagħmel parti mill-portafoll estensiv ta’ Festivals Malta, l-aġenzija tista’ toffri appoġġ lix-xena tal-mużika rock lokali. Tul is-snin, Rock’N Malta ospita artisti bħal Dream Theatre, Dee Snider, Steve Hackett, Krokus, u oħrajn. Kien ukoll ta’ sostenn għal diversi bands, artisti u festivals lokali oħra marbuta ma’ dan il-ġeneru tal-mużika”, qalet il-Kap Eżekuttiv ta’ Festivals Malta Annabelle Stivala.

L-applikazzjonijiet għall-fondi ta’ Rock’N Malta jagħlqu nhar il-Ħamis 22 ta’ Settembru, f’nofsinhar. Kull min hu interessat japplika għandu jgħafas hawn għal aktar informazzjoni jew iniżżel id-dokument ta' hawn taħt.
