“Ix-xogħol assoċjat mal-Karnival ma jsirx biss matul il-ħamest ijiem tiegħu, imma huwa proċess li jibda minn sena qabel. L-għan ta’ Festivals Malta hu li permezz ta’ dawn il-korsijiet, il-parteċipanti jiksbu abbiltajiet u inċentivi ġodda li jissalvagwardjaw is-saħħa u s-sigurtà tal-parteċipanti filwaqt li r-regolamenti tas-saħħa u s-sigurtà jiġu segwiti”,ikkonkludiet Annabelle Stivala, Kap Eżekuttiv Festivals Malta.
Investing in our Traditions
For the last 5 weeks Carnival enthusiasts have been attending specialised courses organised by Festivals Malta where they were trained in professional engineering techniques as well as proper health and safety measures they should adopt whilst working on their carnival floats.
Artistic Director, Jason Busuttil explains that the aim of Festivals Malta has always been the safety and security of both the carnival enthusiasts who work on the floats themselves as well as the general public who, on the days of carnival eagerly visit the capital of Valletta to enjoy these artistic spectacles that form part of our tradition. “The courses included lectures from a professional engineer as well as a certified health and safety officer. Naturally our participants found these courses to be extremely interesting and interactive, as they learned more practical tips and techniques that can help them during the floats’ design and construction stages.”
“The work associated with Carnival is not only done during those five days of the events, it is a yearly process. Through these courses, Festivals Malta aims to invest in our Carnival participants so that they have the right abilities and incentives to constantly develop their work and ensure safe practices that conform with health and safety regulations”, stated Annabelle Stivala, Festivals Malta CEO.
