Around 80,000 people visit Valletta for Notte Bianca

For another consecutive year, Notte Bianca managed to exceed all expectations with another successful evening, with around 80,000 people visiting Valletta for this event. Every corner of Valletta was lit up with vibrant colours, music, and performances of the highest quality.

Minister for the National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government Owen Bonnici said: "Notte Bianca 2023 was another extraordinary success. The vibrant energy of the city came alive as streets were transformed into a bustling tapestry of art, culture, and community.”

“With over 60 artistic events and more than 250 local artists, Notte Bianca has once again managed to meet everyone’s artistic tastes with musical, theatrical and dance performances, visual arts, and more,” Minister Bonnici said.

The Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government Alison Zerafa Civelli applauded the organisers who once again transformed the Capital into an artistic and cultural feast which gives local artists an opportunity to share their talents with the public.

Festivals Malta Chairperson Aaron Zahra praised all the work done for Notte Bianca 2023, without which this event could not have been as successful.

"I am satisfied with the work that Festivals Malta, the national festival agency in Malta, is managing to achieve. The amount of people who gathered in Valletta clearly shows that Notte Bianca, which exhibitis what our country has to offer, is a staple event for the Maltese and Gozitan people. I look forward to more events of the highest quality that have now become expected from Festivals Malta. At the same time, we will start to work on next year’s Notte Bianca which will be held on Saturday 5 October 2024."

On his part Festivals Malta CEO Frans Agius said "Notte Bianca is the biggest festival organised by Festivals Malta, with several projects that take place in one evening, and some at the same time. I am proud of the work done by the dedicated team at Festivals Malta, who work tirelessly to make every aspect of Notte Bianca a success, be it logistics, marketing and programming of all its activities. I would also like to thank all our collaborators especially the police force, Transport Malta, and the Valletta Local Council. This year more than ever, we are seeing the work behind Notte Bianca flourish, as Notte Bianca has been named part of European Heritage Days."

The Artistic Director of Notte Bianca, Antoine Farrugia said, "This edition of Notte Bianca was really a special one. Not only because we had a record number of performances around the City, but for the variety and high quality of projects we offered. We also adopted the artistic routes, which were successful once again, because the audience could plan their route in advance to attend the projects that interested them the most. This year we also had an interactive map that continued to facilitate the process of finding the right performance. We will now start working on next year’s edition to organise an even better festival."
